Cast a planter in concrete from two tubs you already have
“You get one pour and no undo, so the whole time you are sure the mix is wrong. Then you cut the plastic away and there is a solid thing where there was a bag of powder.”
The Recipe
- Pick two containers that nest with a gap between them: a yoghurt tub inside an ice-cream tub works.
- Mix a small batch of quick-set concrete to a thick porridge and half-fill the outer tub.
- Press the smaller tub down into the middle, weight it with stones so it does not float, and smooth the top.
- Leave it to firm up for a few hours, cut the tubs away, and rub the sharp edges smooth.
