Cast on and knit your first square
“Your hands will feel like they belong to someone else for the first ten rows, and then they stop watching themselves and just go.”
The Recipe
- Buy one ball of thick yarn and the needles its label recommends from the nearest shop that sells them.
- Learn to cast on and knit one plain stitch from whoever serves you, a printed card, or the first clear guide you find.
- Knit rows until you have a square the size of a coaster, keeping going past the mistakes rather than starting over.
- Cast off, weave in the loose end, and use the square for what it is.
