Join an outdoor chess table or park game
“Many parks have a corner where regulars play chess, cards, or boules. Standing to watch respectfully is the easiest way to enter the circle.”
The Recipe
- Walk to the corner of a park or public square where people gather around stone game tables or benches.
- Stand and watch a game unfold respectfully from the edge.
- If a match wraps up, ask the players about their favorite moves or if there is an open board.
- Play a round or watch the rotation before heading on your way.
