Cut and hand-stitch a leather card-holder you'll carry
“The stitching is slow and your holes wander off the line for a while; then it is in your pocket and it will outlast the wallet you came in with.”
The Recipe
- Book a leatherworking taster at the nearest workshop that runs beginner sessions; take the first date offered.
- Cut your pieces from the hide, then mark and punch the stitch holes along a straight line.
- Saddle-stitch the seams by hand with two needles, keeping the tension even.
- Burnish the edges smooth and start carrying it the same day.
