Set up and draw strangers for an hour
“Asking a stranger to sit while you draw them badly is exposing twice over, the asking and the drawing. You hand each one the sketch, and a bad likeness given away beats a good one kept.”
The Recipe
- Take a pad and a pen to a busy spot where you can sit: a square, a park, the edge of a market.
- Ask passers-by, one at a time, if you can draw them in two minutes.
- Draw whoever says yes, however it comes out, and talk to them while you do.
- Give each person their portrait to keep.
