Get off at every stop of one transit line, end to end

“It feels pointless around the fourth identical stop, like you are wasting a day on nothing. The city you actually live in is in the stops nobody gets off at.”

The Recipe

  1. Pick the longest bus, tram or metro line that starts near you and buy a day ticket.
  2. Ride it to one end first, without getting off, so you know the whole shape of it.
  3. Start back the other way and get off at every single stop.
  4. At each stop, walk one block in any direction, then come back for the next service.
  5. Eat wherever you happen to be when you get hungry, at whatever the nearest place is.
  6. Keep going even through the stops that look like nothing: those are the point.
  7. Ride the last leg to the far end as the evening crowd fills the carriage back up.
  8. Note the one stop you would come back to on purpose.
