Give an hour to a kitchen that feeds people
“Turning up to help where you know no one is daunting until you are handed a job. Being useful is the easiest way there is to be among people, and nobody is watching you, they are working.”
The Recipe
- Find the nearest community kitchen, food bank or soup run that takes drop-in help, the first that will have you.
- Turn up for a session and take whatever task they give you.
- Work the hour properly, and learn the name of one person working beside you.
- Ask what they always run short of, so you know what to bring next time.
