Hold something in a museum older than your country
“You will be sure you are going to drop it, and that your hands have no business on anything this old, then it is in them, and its weight does something a glass case never has.”
The Recipe
- Find the nearest museum that runs a handling session or a touch table, and book or turn up to the next one.
- Pick up the oldest object they will let you hold, and hold it long enough to feel its weight and its worn edges.
- Ask the one thing you cannot tell by looking: what it was for, or who touched it last.
