Mend a broken bowl with gold
“Gluing a crack feels like hiding a mistake, until you trace the break in gold and it becomes the best thing about the bowl.”
The Recipe
- Get a kintsugi repair kit, or book a mending workshop that supplies one, and bring a plain broken or chipped piece of your own.
- Fit the broken edges together dry to see how the pieces go before you mix any glue.
- Bond the pieces following the kit, then paint the seams with the gold along every crack.
- Let it cure fully before you wash it, and use it for something dry first.
