Pour a candle and burn it the same night
“Melted wax looks like nothing until it sets opaque and solid, and the first one you light is one you made.”
The Recipe
- Get a candle-making kit from the nearest craft shop, or book the next beginners' session at a workshop that runs them.
- Melt the wax to the temperature on the instructions, stir in scent if you have it, and set the wick dead centre.
- Pour steadily, hold the wick straight until the wax starts to cloud, and leave it somewhere level to set fully.
- Light it that evening once it has hardened.
