Cut your own stencil and print it onto a plain bag

“The paint wants to creep under the edges and there is no fixing a smudge once it is down. Then you lift the card clean and the shape is sharp and it is yours.”

The Recipe

  1. Draw one bold, simple shape onto card or an old folder and cut it out cleanly with a knife.
  2. Lay the stencil flat on a plain tote or old shirt you already own and hold it down at the edges.
  3. Dab fabric paint through the opening with a sponge, working from the edges inward, then lift the stencil straight up in one go.
  4. Let it dry, then carry or wear it out the same week.
