Read the main square building by building
“You have crossed the main square a dozen times without once looking up. Read what each big building around it was built to be and you can see, in one slow turn, what the whole city was organised around.”
The Recipe
- Walk to the largest open square in the city and stand in the middle of it.
- Turn slowly, and for each grand building facing the square work out what it was built to be: a church, a market, a seat of power, a bank.
- Decide from what surrounds it what this city was built around, and check the one guess you are least sure of.
