Row a hire boat out to the middle and stop
“The first minute is all caught crabs and going in circles while people on the bank watch. Then the oars find a rhythm, the bank goes quiet, and the middle of the water is a room nobody else is in.”
The Recipe
- Hire a rowing boat from the nearest place that rents them by the hour.
- Row out to the middle, badly at first, until the shore is the same distance all round.
- Ship the oars and let it drift for as long as it takes to stop feeling watched.
- Row back a longer way than you came.
