- Find the nearest guided route beneath the city (a crypt, catacombs, cellars, an old station, a tunnel) and take the first tour that runs.
- Go down without reading about it first, so what you see is a surprise and not a checklist.
- Find the one thing down there you did not know the city had, and get the guide to tell you why it is there.
- Back at street level, stand where you started and work out what is directly beneath your feet.
