Be in place when the full moon comes up
“You'll arrive sure you've got the time wrong and the spot wrong. Then it comes up over the roofline the size of a fist and orange, and you'll have got neither wrong.”
The Recipe
- Find the next full or nearly-full moon and look up its rise time and the compass point it rises from for where you are.
- Get to the openest place with a clear eastern horizon you can reach on foot or one bus, be there ten minutes early, and keep your eyes on the horizon, not your phone.
- Catch the first sliver, easy to miss and faster than you expect, and stay until it has fully cleared and started to shrink and pale as it climbs.
