- Look up the next open meeting of your local council or town hall: the first on the calendar, not the most important one.
- Arrive before it starts, sign in if asked, and take a seat in the public section.
- Follow one item from the agenda through the debate to the vote.
- Stay in your seat when they call the vote, and watch who raises a hand for what.
